The Cool Kids at SOB's Review/Photos

On the train into the city I had a lot going through my mind. While listening to the The Cool Kids new mix tape 'Gone Fishing' and staring at the constantly moving and changing landscape out the window; thoughts were flooding my head. Not only general excitement about going into the city to see a show, there was more to it. Just a year ago I was nothing more than a Cool Kids fan taking this same train to see them in the city, with a twenty dollar ticket in my hand to get into the venue. Flash forward to yesterday and I was on the train, with a successful You Tube channel and a website to go along with it. All of this started because of The Cool Kids, because of that show a year ago,and because of the live video I posted on the than brand new DopeVideo88 You Tube channel. To think that in just a year I have come to be acquainted with Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids to the degree that he would put me on the guest list for his show is just astonishing to me. It isn't only the pleasure of not having to pay to get into the show(because I eventually had to) but it is the thought that all of this hard work on TheMaskedGorilla.Com and DopeVideo88 is finally starting to pay off,I am finally starting to get recognized and that is a tremendous feeling.
Now onto the show, I took a later train into the city because I was not all that interested in seeing the first few acts. I navigated my way from Penn Station,to the right subway,to the right street, but that is where my good luck and general sense of direction wore off. I walked up the stairs of the subway station and the city lights hit my eyes. With a two inch printed map in my hand I headed off to what I thought was the right direction to the venue. About a half hour later I still wasnt there, and the walk was only estimated to take seven minutes. Three wrong ways later and five accounts with random people to ask directions, I heard loud bass coming from a building and I knew I was there. I walked up to the bouncer and said "Uhh I think I'm on the list" he replied with "What list?" I answered with " Uhh,The Cool Kids,Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids" he replied with "The Cool Kids are done here, there list is done." I was pretty pissed off about this whole situation because I knew this wasn't going to run smooth, I gave him my last twenty dollar bill to gain admission, and I walked into SOB's. After that I was not in the mood at all, not only was it embarrassing but it was a shot to everything I thought I had gained. I caught the last few songs of I don't even know who and waited for The Cool Kids to come on. I was surprised how small of a venue this was, and it was not that packed. I was told this was the first headling show for The Cool Kids, and when I come to think of it I think it wasn't. The Cool Kids came onto the small stage, and killed it. They played songs mostly off 'Gone Fishing' but they did the classics such as, "Black Mags," "I'm Mikey," and "88." They had a video backdrop behind them that was synchronized with the songs they were playing. That was almost more entertaining than the songs. I kept a steady balance between picture taking and video capturing for this show, the camera might be shaky for the videos because I wasn't letting the website get in the way of the good time. Oh yeah and guess who was lurking extra hard on stage and around the crowd, WERDPLAY. I'm pretty sure no one knew who he was, and if you have never seen him you might think "who is this lazy eyed crazy?" It was so funny because he was walking around the crowd just taking pictures with people and people thought he was just a sketchy lurker. But little did they know he is Werdplay, a super dope raper. I caught a picture with him so that was sick. The only part of the night I regret is not sticking around after the show to meet The Cool Kids and the rest of the performers, I was pretty heated plus I had my first day of college classes today so I had to get home early.
So your probably thinking to yourself,"whats up with Chuck violating you and not putting you on the list when he said he would?" I was thinking the same thing the whole time, but when I woke up and checked my Twitter there was an apology from him in my @Reply box. Check it out bellow.
I will be posting the videos to the DopeVideo88 You Tube channel shortly, but for now check out the pictures I took HERE.

Video: Jay-Z Wants To ‘Leave A Footprint’ In Hollywood
"Hollywood” isn’t just the name of a Jay-Z song — Hov still wants to get into the movie biz. Before he retired for the first time about six years ago, Jay said one of the things he wanted to focus on after rapping was making movies. Well, obviously even when he was in “retirement,” Jay never stopped rapping — it’s in the man’s DNA. Still, the Jiggaman told us he hasn’t given up laying down a blueprint for success in Tinseltown.
“I do. I do,” Jay insisted about whether he still wants to make movies in the future. “I’m taking my time. It may seem like it’s taking forever, but when I do, it’s gonna be something added to the genre. I just don’t wanna do a couple movies and be gone. I want it to be something that’s really important, so I’m taking my time with it. Hopefully when I arrive [in Hollywood], I can leave a footprint.”

Video: Drake Says There Will Be More Collabos With Jay-Z
We got to work a couple nights, actually, we did a few joints and from what I hear we’re going back in to try and get some more stuff done.
Jay has been one of the most special people to me in this game. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the nights me and Jay had in the studio, and the things he’ll tell me and just the way he embraced me. It’s one of the best feelings in my life. Jay is one of those guys that you can say, ‘I look up to this guy,’ or ‘I like this guy’s music.’ I wanted to be Jay. That’s what they say about the best artists. To be a great rapper, men gotta wanna be you and women gotta wanna … you know.
I wanna be myself, but for me to say, ‘If I couldn’t be me, I wanted to be that man’ — that’s huge. … To have that man in my life and to be able to interact with him and talk to him and, best of all, work with him — there’s not a real sentence I can say to describe it. Hopefully Jay and Drake are as powerful as Drake and Wayne. I hope people see that union and it comes up more than once in the future.

Jay-Z To Play September 11 Benefit Concert

Much like he did when the first Blueprint was released, Jay-Z is releasing the third installment of the trilogy on September 11. Aware of the importance of the date, Jay-Z is set to play at Madison Square Garden in New York to raise money for New York Police and Fire Widows' and Children's Benefit Fund.
As mentioned, the show will fall on the same date as the release of his highly anticipated Blueprint 3 offering. The anticipation has been rising for this CD with the release of two singles and videos off the album, along with a leak of "Off That" featuring Drake [click to listen] and "Reminder." This, of course, follows last year's leaks, which included songs that gained buzz but were later taken off the album.
Ticket information for the show has not been announced as of yet but the show will be shown on Fuse. The week of the album's release will be a big one as he is also set to perform at MTV's Video Music Awards and Jay Leno's first night on prime time with NBC.

50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct Pushed Back Again

Queens rapper 50 Cent has revealed that his upcoming album Before I Self Destruct will be pushed back once again. The announcement was made by Fifty in an interview at the Coke Live Festival, in Cracow, Poland over the weekend.
Although 50 Cent did not give a clear explanation of why exactly the album is being pushed back again, he did reveal that he will also be releasing a movie to accompany the album.
“I was limited [with] time on my other projects, And this one, just because the system was in a state of confusion with things changing - the music business itself changed,” 50 Cent explained. “And it was definitely a time where I felt like I was ready and it wasn’t a possibility for me to release the record at that point. And then the Eminem train came running down the track and I had to get out the way to let Eminem’s record [Relapse] go out. Because he had been off for two years, it made good sense for to let him go out first.”
Before I Self Destruct has seen a number of releases dates, with the latest being September 11 and September 29. The new release date for Before I Self Destruct will now be some time in November.

Ma$e Plots To Stab Fat Joe
I just think people get confused, is he a gangsta or a pastor? … We was in the car, after the MTV [2005 VMAs where Fat Joe dissed 50 onstage], I heard Ma$e say “If woulda had my knife, I woulda stabbed Fat Joe.”
To me, he was trying to impress 50. I’m seeing this coming from a pastor and I’m like “maybe this nigga ain’t no pastor,” I don’t know.
This video is actually pretty interesting surprising enough,I mean Yayo is a goon so you cant take anything he says for the truth but If that really happened, than wow.
You also cant take Ma$e serious, he is the most huff fake ass pastor in the history of religion haha.
Someone does needs to stab Fat Joe though,I'd watch this knife fight on pay-per-view. Papoose would probaly wanna get in on this too now that I think about it, he already snuffed Fat Joe,its time to step it up and stab the dude.

Video: Sway Explains MTV’s Hottest MCs List
For the criteria, we factor in the following: How the MC’s words penetrate on the mic: Can their lyrics stab hearts, does their flow enthrall you? Obviously we look at how they implement their talent with the quality of music as well. The music is always primary, but not the only aspect of a Hot MC. We look at their success, both musical and entrepreneurial: Do they sell albums, singles and ringtones? Do they top the charts? Are their records heavily spun on the airwaves? Do they have businesses that flourish? Have they put other MCs in the game? Do companies clamor to get them to endorse products? And finally, there’s the intangible, impact: Of course you can look at metrics such Google hits, Twitter followers and YouTube views — which we do — but do these MCs move the needle on the culture? Can the mere mention of their names start conversations? Do they start trends? How much do they get fans engrossed? What’s their buzz? Keep in mind though, these are the main factors. When the Hip-Hop Brain Trust sits down, passion over a certain issue or artists will ultimately determine who ranks where.
The Hip-Hop Brain Trust is currently comprised of eight MTV staffers — Tuma Basa, Buttaman, Rahman Dukes, Sean Lee, Shaheem Reid, Steven Roberts, Jayson Rodriguez and moderator Sway, who expresses his opinions at the round table but does not vote. Prior to convening, all Trustees will come up with their own personal lists — which we’ll disclose once the entire list is revealed — choosing who they felt were the MCs dominating in their craft. This year we will also tally up a list of the fans’ top 10. There’s a poll running our Web site right now (voting closes on September 21) where we pose the question, “Who is the Hottest MC in the Game?” The top 10 choices from this readers’ poll will be included this year, with Sway representing them at the table. Once all 10 lists are in, we mathematically add the total in one master list. Each rapper gets 10 points for every time they rank #1, nine points for #2, and so forth. Once that is accomplished, the Hip-Hop Brain Trust will sit down at the table and fight it out. Keep in mind, just because an artist makes the master list, that doesn’t mean that he or she cannot be taken off and replaced with MCs from outside the mathematical top 10. Others can rise of fall within the top 10.
We’ve had plenty of controversy over our past lists — Lil Wayne won in 2007; Kanye West in 2008 — and this year’s will undoubtedly be the most controversial yet!
Honestly, all hating aside...who do you think was the top dog MC of '09?

No not anything. Anything besides foul play. I’ll let a girl lick my ass though.
What’s the sexiest part of a woman?
Ain’t no one sexy part, honest to God. Like Angelina Jolie, her lips is just sexy, and that might beat some girls with nice titties. I think every women should have nice feet and some nice hands. All guys feel that way, whether they say it or not.
What’s sexiest about you?
Just me, my swag, my aura. That’s something an ugly nigga would say. Not that I’m conceited, shit. I feel like my aura makes me sexy, and then we can get into what a good looking nigga I am, too.
What turns you out in bed?
What makes my toes curl?
Yeah.
Just getting some good head.
Top or bottom?
I like her on top.
