Lil Wayne: "Road 2 Rikers" Documentary (Video)
Part 1
Above is part one of the Nino Brown: Road 2 Rikers documentary, which is documenting Lil Wayne's last days of freedom before he is sent off to Rikers Island this Tuesday. In this segment Lil Wayne explains his Twitter name, and what it exactly means.
Bellow you can catch Wayne speaking on new T-shrts he had made up with his Twitter name on them and how he shot another seven videos recently in the last push before prison.
We got a chance to catch up with Interscope/Allido's Wale in Austin to talk for a few on a couple of topics. He starts by revealing his favorite old-school wrestlers and his favorite moves, then goes on to speak about a couple up-and-coming DC artists that he is currently working with, Fat Trel & Black Cobain. Before he leaves, we ask him a question that we talked to him about weeks prior: to pick his favorite out of two of the biggest streetwear brands, Bape and Supreme.
Lupe Fiasco says that he doesn't want to be Jay-Z and be worth $400 Million
Lupe talked to THE AGE in Australia, mainly discussing the conflicts he is/was going through with his label. Check it out below. Historically, there has been a conflict between the music Lupe wants to create and the music his label wants him to make.
Lupe: ''It's less about me being a celebrity, because I guess I'm not really a celebrity,'' he says. ''The most difficult part of the music business is the label." "What I want to do and what they want me to do - creatively - is in conflict. It doesn't keep me up at night. I look at it as a challenge. It's not meant to be easy." "There's a misunderstanding with my fanbase,'' he says. ''People [at Warner] feel they know my fans more than I do. They want me to step out of my comfort zone and step into theirs. I don't have necessarily the celebrity success they want me to have but it's more social success and being able to speak at a college about world affairs. That's a success, to me. I don't want to be Jay-Z and be worth $400 million and perform on every awards show. It's getting in touch with somebody who needs to improve their self-esteem, as opposed to driving a Bentley and putting some chains on.'' Lupe's third album for Warner, Lasers, was submitted last month. The label has yet to announce a release date. ''It's an album we both feel comfortable putting out,'' Lupe says. ''I'm somebody saying the things that maybe 98 per cent of the music industry is not.''
NOTE: I ripped this this entire post of of the Lupe Fiasco fan blog, where they ripped it off another site. I didn't write this interview... step up your blogging knowledge!
Wait, wait, wait... did any of you see that video of Kid Cudi getting kissed by a fan on stage? Oh right... the fan was a guy. Now, I'm far far farrrrr from one of those homophobic hip-hop heads (HHHH for short) but I feel like this might get blown up pretty quick. What I wanna know is, why did Cudi sock a guy in the face for throwing a wallet at him, but not do anything when a guy kisses him?! I'll take a wallet over a kiss from a guy any day. Anyway, download link for the new/old Kid Cudi track bellow...
Fan Pulls A Kanye At Big Sean Show; Gets Body-Slammed Off Stage
At a show in Chicago last night, Big Sean was hit with a Kanye West/ Taylor Swift type of event. How did he handle it? He just got one of his goons to body slam the disrespectful show interrupter right off the stage.
You might be thinking to yourself, why did a random guy just hop on stage and start swearing off the whole city of Chicago and everyone at the show? Supposedly the disgruntled mic-stealer was supposed to perform earlier in the show, but got one-overed by the booking agency and show staff. From what I heard a few artists sold tickets to this show themselves, in order to be able to open up for Big Sean. You know, that pay-to-play garbage goes with a lot of less than professional booking agencies.
If I was selling tickets to a big show weeks in advance, telling everyone I was going to be performing, and than that night they wouldn't let me do my set after all of that... I would of done the same thing. So props to the stage-crasher, he had more balls than anyone else in there... especially the few other dudes who were in the same spot as him and didn't do anything about it.
One of chicago rising emcees, returning with a visual off his up coming mixtape top five material pt2 "im dancing" dropping march 9th! The video takes you to the heart of Chicago to the notorious area, called "K-Town" where Skooda reigns supreme. What was really just suppose to be a taping of a freestyle turned into an actual video with over 100 people showing in freezing weather! The track rapshit was produced by up and coming rapper/producer F.A.B.L.E directed by James walker, James kruml,Chris Robinson.
Here's my tagline for this shoe: Simplicity I Can Fuck With. This simple low top sneaker comes with metal hiking laceloop-eyelets which really make it unique. The Sierra 106 LX will come in the three above colorways in the initial Vans Spring 2010 Collection release.
Thank god this is finally over. The list in my eyes was definitely an upset. I guess only time will tell though right? Who do you think from this list, a year from now, will have the most mainstream success? Check out the previous nine M.C's bellow.
Curren$y: "Address" feat. Stalley (Official Music Video)
This track will be appearing on Ski Beatz upcoming mixtape, 24 Hour Karate School. You can catch the download link to this track in a few minutes, when I post it. In related news (this just in), Stalley is blowing up these days! Check out a recent interview where he discussed the impromptu video shoot with The Cool Kids for the track,"We Can Do It Big". What do you think of him, do you approve? UPDATE: Download link for "Address" added bellow.
With this being the last part of our brief interview with Drake, I can say it’s perfect timing. If you watched what I watched from XXL earlier today you’ll know definitely what I mean. In the video Drizzy talks about the freshmen list as well as “returning the favor” to the magazine and when asked about his recent spread with GQ, he speaks on his relationship with Jordan Brand and shows off his Air Jordan Anniversary 9’s “like a basketball player.” – IMF
This actually explains a whole lot. This list is so fucked this year to start off with, than they need two replacements on top of that. XXL really screwed up with this list, what an upset this was.
Only one more left on the list, who do you think it is gonna be?! The next post might help you out a little, or at least eliminate a few from that last spot.
Hall of Fame x Diamond Supply Company: Un-Polo Polar Bear
Hall of Fame teamed up with their neighbor on Fairfax, Diamond Supply Co., to produce the “Un-Polo Polar Bear” Pack, consisting of a New Era fitted cap, a hoodie, a t-shirt and a skateboard deck. For the release they produced a little commercial.
“I’ve gotten great feedback from artists I look up to and never thought I’d work with. They’re already in line to be on the project. But it’s like, ‘Do I want to put out a debut album with a thousand features on it or do I wanna finally showcase Nicki?’ I’m not worried about features at all because I’ve been blessed to come in the game and work with top-notch artists from the inception of my career.
I’m in the very beginning stage of the recording process of my album. I have songs that where I am now, they aren’t a great representation of me to where I’m at musically. I wanna start from scratch but I do have my single and it’ll be out. It’s gonna be ‘Massive Attack.’
With the album, just like with my mixtape, I never like to rush it. With the album, I think it’s more important that people get accustomed to seeing a female rapper again. Before I drop an album, people need to come out and see. People don’t even know what a female rapper does. We’re so not used to seeing it. It’s nonexistent in categories. We don’t get nominated. I need to work the people up to accepting a female rapper again and accepting my style and all of that — then the album will come. Honestly, I’d love to put an album out this year, but I don’t believe in rushing things either. We’ll see.”
Hot Spitta performs a few old, well known tracks at the LRG NYC showcase last night and one off his latest mixtape;Smokee Robinson. I was planning on attending this, but the rain was on a whole other level, it still is actually. Doesn't he seem a little odd on stage without a hypeman; it makes the show seem very dull.
XXL’s Freshmen 2010 Freestyle #8 (Video) [Worst Freestyle Of All Time]
Oh.My.God. What the fuck is this? For some reason the XXL video player takes a while to load on my computer, so I spent about a minute reading what people had to say about this video in the comment section of the site. They were going offff to say the least, I thought it couldn't possibly be as bad as people are making it seem. That was before I hit the play button. After I hit that button, I couldn't agree more with what the commenters were saying. Not only does this dude sound like a complete moron, he only "rapped" four lines! Three if you factor in him rhyming two of the same lines together back to back. This dude rhymed "basketball player" with..."basket ball player." I understand that XXL is trying to get in rappers from all sides of hip-hop since last years list was mainly "hipster rappers", but this is just straight up an embarrassment to the 2010 list and XXL as a whole. If you know who this rapper is, keep it to yourself because it's just an embarrassment to actually know his name. You will never see anything else from this fuckboy on here again. AYE!
Rhymefest & Skyzoo's "Crack The Code" will be found on the upcming Closed Sessions Vol. 1 which will be released on 3-2-10. Shout out to whoever sent me this.
There are a few rappers on this list that they just missed on, bad. This mysterious freestyler is one of them. Last years list > This years list. I gotta say though, the leaked list from a few months back is matching up pretty good with the actual list so far.
For Spring/Summer 2010, Nooka is expanding their colorways on the Nooka Zub, AO, and Strip collections. For the first time ever, the Zub model will feature bright, two-toned colors as well as 9 new colors for both the AO and Strip line.
A few more looks into the Nooka Spring/Summer 2010 line bellow.
You know I don't fuck with "samples" over here on TMG, but I wouldn't really consider this a sample. It's Lil Wayne's verse off Tyga's upcoming track feat. Juelz Santana, Drake & Lil Wayne entitled "I’m On It". I mean, when you hear the whole song it's not like you are going to be listening for any other reason than the Wayne verse, right? Maybe the Drake verse too... but that is the same thingnow isn't it.
"I'm On It" will be featured on Evil Empire’s Trending Topics 2 mixtape. To hear Tyga's verse off of this track as well as see some behind the scenes from the "music video"; click here.
This is definitely more of a haunting one,” he said of the number. ” ‘Cause this is sort of a remix. I don’t think anyone has heard this version of the song. He did some really amazing sound work to this one. This one he got into his production a little bit more. - Nabil Elderkin (Director)
Kanye never ceases to amaze me with the material he produces. This alternate version of "Coldest Winter" is ten times better than the original, in my opinion. Kanye's greatest quality, besides his hilarious antics, is his ability to break down musical boundaries. I wouldn't even consider this track to be of the hip-hop genre; but I hope his new album is just as "hip-hop" as this track...
Here is part 1 of a brief interview that we had with Drizzy, who performed at the Sprite Step Off Show in Atlanta this weekend. We spoke to him on his upcoming debut, Thank Me Later and what we can expect. The significance of the video is when he references a certain legend in Hip Hop that he studied for the album. And if you're wondering, that's Ludacris who he is shaking hands with.
Bighomie DOE: Flyest [Produced by Chuck Inglish] (Video)
The video was directed by Mike Carson, while the song was produced by Chuck Inglish of The Cool Kids. Look for the Bighomie's project, DOE: The Chicago Bull, to drop very soon.
During our JETS x Cinematic Music Group Takeover Show, Shine Travis spoke to Curren$y about the release of his latest project, Smokee Robinson, the story of his first meeting with Dame Dash to begin recording at the DD172 Complex, and much more.
So if you follow me on Twitter, this was the event I was talking about. I was actually invited to this event by a friend of mine, I chose not to go and seeing this video I'm kinda glad I didn't. It looks like super long lines. (that I would not of had to wait on anyway) and just too many people for me too handle.
Lupe Fiasco: Performing 2 New Songs in Sydney (Video)
In the above Lupe performs the song that is so far known as "2 Ways", but Lupe says it's called "Beautiful Lasers". Bellow he performs the song (starting at 1:06) known as"Save My Radio".
I could of sworn that all of this mystery freestyle bullshit was over after the fifth video, I guess you can't believe everything you hear on the internet. This one is pretty easy though, do you recognize who this mysterious, "new breed of hustler", rapper is? If you do, you know the deal... leave a comment bellow.
This is a great, great video. It doesn't really match the song, but I'm glad to see a video with a story-line for once. If you are thinking this video came out of left field than I'm right with you. It was uploaded to Vimeo a month ago but Andrew Barber just posted it on FSD tonight, I don't know what was the hold up.
i make my own videos n trailers n shit so when ya'll like em i think iss really cool... -Wiz Khailfa
Above is the video trailer for the Wiz Khalifa's upcoming mixtape entitled: "Kush x Orange Juice". According to Wiz's Twitter, he actually made this video himself, I don't know how much I am believing him though.
Barely anything is ever released on the weekends; no content is being produced because mostly everyone is not working. For that very reason TheMaskedGorila.com holds "Lazy Sundays". Lazy Sundays strictly consists of viewer submitted content; new, old, random... it doesn't matter. If you link it to me on Twitter, the chances are good that it will make it's way into this post.
Kidz In The Hall: Land Of Make Believe Listening Party (Video)
Kidz in the Hall and KarmaloopTV bring you an exclusive interview at the listening party for Land of Make Believe, the third Kidz in the Hall album. Yes, it involves stories about strippers.
This is the first live video I have seen of Mic Terror performing his latest track: "I'm Famous". Check out the official music video here. What do you think about his song anyway? Is it good, does it match up to his past tracks/videos?
Although this is not quite news --more of gossip -- I figured I would keep you updated on the Lil Wayne prison story, since I updated all of you in the first place! Bellow is ripped straight from TMZ, so take it for what it is.
Lil Wayne just had one of the gnarliest oral surgeries in the history of dentistry. We're told it was a marathon session that included a stomach-turning eight root canals at one time.
Our sources say Wayne went under the drill on Tuesday.
We're told during the eight hour procedure, Wayne had his grill worked on, several tooth implants redone, more implants added and had the few real teeth he had left repaired.
This is the critical dental surgery that kept Wayne from being shipped off to the big house last week.
The judge allowed the rapper to put his sentence for felony attempted gun possession on hold until March 2 -- enough time for Wayne to get his mouth prison-ready.
I'm confused about this video to say the least, it looks dope though! Chuck's face at the end is priceless, everyone is superserious and he's just smirking trying not to laugh.
Clinton Sparks sits down with Asher Roth to discuss the pressures of being on a major label, bridging the gap between the message and the money and what he's listening to on his ipod.
Where's part 1 of this video? Not on this site, that's for sure. The first part of this interview covered B.o.B being a douche explaining his "rock star alter ego". Yeahhhhh I know, what a d-bag. Anyway why am I even posting this? For an excuse to talk about; no not how B.o.B's album has been pushed up to 27th of April, but how is manager called me a hater! Yeah, B.o.B's manager called me a "hater" for refusing to report on the fuckery of him having a mixtape entitled May 25th (for the sole purpose to promote the release date of his debut album) than getting the date of his album release changed after the mixtape had already dropped. But the bad thing is that they are trying to act like it is a good thing. It clearly is not a good thing, do you know how much marketing work goes into making decisions like that? They have been planning this album for years, than it gets moved up last minute? All that means is that his album would sell better, against less competition, at the new date. Maybe if it got moved up a year, than wow... "what an accomplishment, they are so confident in him they want to get him out to the public ASAP." When it is just a few weeks, all that means is that his album was going to get overshadowed by another one that was being released around the same time. "Hater", no. Realist, yes.
Here is the #4 XXL "Freshman 2010" freestyle. If you don't know who is in the above video, you are allowed to stay this time! I don't even know who the hell this guy is. Just kidding I do, but do I care who he is? Hmmm no. I'm gonna tell you who it is in an hour or two, I just wanna see if anyone out there has any idea who the number four mystery rapper is. You know what, first correct response gets free TMG stickers!
You thought I stopped posting material from the Young Money/ Cash Money Camp? It's been a while, but the circus is back in town! Here we get a peak into the great production of "Roger That", which is just one of nine videos YMCMB shot over Super Bowl weekend. You know, because Wayne was supposed to be in jail soon after that, maybe with this extra time they will put some more time into these videos. Doubt it, and by doubt it I mean it is not happening. I just can't wait when each one of these videos come out back-to-back times 9... it will be funny to see how similar, but yet terrible they all are.
Finally, it's official! The Cool Kids WILL be on the next BlakRoc album. I'm gonna let Andrew of FSD take it away on this one, since he was the one who was there!
On Monday, I dropped by the Blender studio to link up with the Cool Kids & the Blended Babies to hear some new material - most notably - The Kids' long-awaited project, When Fish Ride Bicycles.
Last year, I did a full preview of When Fish Ride Bicycles, most of which ended up becoming Gone Fishing. Chuck and Mikey decided to redo the project and go a different direction, and from what I heard on Monday, that was a pretty accurate statement. This new project is going to totally mess your head up. I'm willing to give you the FSD guarantee on that. It's not what you're expecting, and Chuck has taken his production to the next level - not to mention Mikey is snappin' like crazy.
I was also able to hear some of Pac Div's new material, including tracks from their upcoming mixtape as well as some joints from the Church League Champions remix project, which I'll have more info on shortly. Be on the lookout for a lot of exciting stuff from this camp (The Cool Kids, Pac Div, Blended Babies) in 2010.
I wasn't able to film any of the new When Fish Ride Bicycles tracks, but I was able to get some footage of The Kids recording a track from the upcoming BlackRoc project, with The Black Keys. Chuck Inglish produced the track while out in NYC, during a hilarious studio session that featured Dame Dash, Sean Price (P!), Thirstin Howl III and the Black Keys. I'm not sure when the new BlackRoc project is dropping, but this is sure to be a heater. -FSD
Shoutout to whoever sent me this, check up their write-up below.
Check out upcoming Ohio MC Stalley’s latest video interview with Jungle Gym Magazine where he speaks on his approach to music, Nas, Alife, as well as his relationship with Dame Dash, Ski Beatz and the Creative Control/DD172 crew. The interview also includes performance footage from the recent OnSmash Invasion show featuring Styles P and Sean Price at the Highline Ballroom.
This is still supposed to be a mystery, I'm getting pretty sick of the fuckery though. If you don't know who this is rapping in the above video... than leave this site immediately. If you do know... leave one in the comment section bellow.
I'm not exactly sure why snippets only dropped-- or when the full version will be dropping-- but enjoy the snippets for now, you know I will! Just look at all the features on this tape, the elite class of the new school, mixed in with some of the best "old school" rappers out right now. Check out the snippets for now, and hopefully the title of this post will have the word mixtape in between the commas any minute now.
So they are still not saying who this is; but I know, you know... everyone knows. Here is Pills super short freestyle for the XXL Freshman 10 hype promo. The more interesting part of this video is that they are branding this years list as "A New Bread Of Hustlers"... hmm who the fuck wants a themed list? Just give us the top ten overall, not the top ten hustlers!
If you don't know A.I Love You yet, than you will soon. These two dudes from the DMV are creating completely unique music, and it doesn't even sound like that's their goal. With most young artists today, they all think they are doing something different, breaking the mold... but in reality they're all doing the same thing. A.I Love You is far from that; they brand their unique style of hip-hop as "Electric-Hop". Their latest project The Lonely Hearts Club came in perfect time for Valentines Day. Whether you have a special someone today or not, I suggest you lay up in your bed, (would be better with a special someone) put this album on as-well as your headphones, eat some candy hearts, and vibe out to this dope music!
Tracklist, Press-release, and download link bellow.
Official Press-Release:
As we all know, it’s that favorite time of the year for lovers all around the globe. Yes indeed, the infamous Valentine’s Day. And as a special treat, The DMV (D.C., Maryland, and Virginia) area’s favorite Electric -Hop duo, A.I. Love You, gives us something to feast our ears on. Their latest project entitled “The Lonely Hearts Club” is now available on the web for free download.
Luckily “The Lonely Hearts Club” is a pleasure for both singles and couples being that we can all relate to the ups and downs of love. Instead of focusing on the typical “so in love tunes”, A.I. Love you found a clever way to put a spin on Valentine’s day, by touching on the topic of lost loves and broken hearts. Like all of their other projects, this one falls on the other end of the spectrum. It is fun creative and something new.
I could of sworn I heard this track before, but it looks like I didn't post it. Maybe I heard it in a video, anyway it seems unfinished but the bass is bumpinggggg.
DD172 Presents BluRoc – Feb 25th Gramercy Theater NYC
The whole DD172 "movement" is by far the dopest thing going on in hip hop right now. These Creative Control videos have been filling up TMG with great content over the past few weeks. Now these videos are coming to real life...
The DD172 space has become a collective of artisans coming together under one roof under the watchful eye of Dame Dash. With all of them making great strides in their individual genres, Dame decided that its time to showcase skills on a bigger stage than the computer screens you’re used to seeing them on. On February 25th Dame Dash introduces BluRoc, an amalgamation of the Hip Hop and Rock influenced acts under the DD172 umbrella. Featuring acts like Curren$y, Stalley, The London Souls, Edan, Ski and more, this show should prove to have something for every discerning ear.
Wow talk about a lineup on one tape: Curren$y, The Cool Kids, Wiz Khalifa, Jay Electronica, and a whole bunch more. I can't wait to hear the finished product from all of this. Ski Beatz' 24 Hour Karate Shop drops Monday, February 15th.
Wiz Khalifa Announces 40+ City "Deal Or No Deal" Tour
In support of his debut album: Deal Or No Deal, Wiz Khalifa will be embarking on a forty city plus tour, along with support from Yelawolf, U-God and DJ/MC Jasmine Solano.
So this explains the random release of that music video; not so random anymore now huh? I was going to include this news in the last post, but all the dates woulda just made it too long!
I'm pretty sure I will not be attending any of those shows, mater-fact I'm expecting an email anyone of these days with tickets for my printing to make up for last time... just kidding. Are you hitting up any of these show though, if so which one? Leave a comment bellow, maybe we can work out some TMG.com press passes for you... just kidding again, those do not exist hah.

Wow this one really took me by surprise to be honest with you. I didn't hear too much about the making of this video in the past month or so. I do remember a few tweets, maybe... I think. Anyway it's here. "This Plane" is off Wiz's debut album Deal Or No Deal which was released this past November. It looks like they used some live shots from the record release show I attended in NYC, remember that? Haha.*
(* detonates you laughing along with me, only if you are a true OG TMG fan and know what I am laughing about! Leave a comment if you do!)

I had a post all ready yesterday to discuss Lil Wayne's sentencing and how he was going to jail, yesterday.
So what happened to that post? It turns out his sentencing was delayed due to dental surgery. At first glance it would seem like that is a whole bunch of bull, but take a look at Lil Wayne's current teeth. Yeah, after looking at those chompers you know Weezy is in need of some serious dental work. They're not letting him go into the clanker with those grills, I wanna see what his real teeth look like... those things must be yellow with a hint of purple permanently dyed into them.
"Wayne will have to undergo surgery on February 12th in Miami, and will need a week to 10 days of recovery. The defense asked that he be sentenced on February 25th, but the judge decided on March 2nd as the new date."
This looks like it will the the last push-back of the sentencing day though, which has been going on since 2007. The judge had this to say with the latest pushback:
“I don’t want this to get pushed back anymore,” Solomon said. “This is the last adjournment.”
Is this even a good thing? Wayne was prepared to go; he got all of his projects out of the way, shot nine music videos in one week, did a ton of press, and even had his going away party. It's like you're about to go sky-diving. You're finally ready to jump out of the plane after going through all of the motions, you get ready to jump, than you find out you have to comeback and do it all again in a month. This has to be taking a great emotional toll of Wayne, if he can even feel his emotions anymore that is.
Lupe has been bitching a whole lot lately about how all of his tracks are leaking, here goes another one. "What U Want" has been confirmed to be appearing on by Lupe's upcoming album "Lasers" via his Twitter.
Asher Roth Talks New Mix Tape & B.O.B song @ Nike Lace Up Saves Lives Event.
Do you hear MGMT in the back, YAhh that's what I'm talking about. Anyway, I'm amped to hear this new Asher tape but even more amped for Greenhouse Effect 2.
Nipsey's "Talk About Me" is just a mixtape jumpoff so it's dope for what it is. The chorus is kinda weak, but the west coast beat knocks and makes up for it.
(The following article is completely beat from MTV, I didn't write this shit!)
Lil Wayne's life revolves around a daily regime of "SportsCenter," studio time and sweets. But on Tuesday (February 9), the Cash Money lyricist will be formally sentenced to prison after he struck a plea deal with Manhattan prosecutors stemming from a 2007 arrest in New York on gun charges. After he officially enters his plea, the rapper is expected to then turn himself in immediately to begin a one-year jail sentence.
Not since Tupac has such an accomplished and relevant MC faced an impending prison term. But will the lithe New Orleans rapper survive the daunting conditions at the notorious Rikers Island facility?
"Lil Wayne is gonna be OK," retired NYPD detective and noted "hip-hop cop" Derrick Parker told MTV News. "While he's in jail, it's a matter of fact they may not put him with the general population because of who he is and his popularity. They might lock him down and let him come out with a supervisor and stuff like that [when he's] in the main area — but he's definitely going to be treated differently."
According to Parker, the way Wayne will be handled will depend on safety concerns for the rapper as well as an effort to maintain as much normalcy at the facility as possible — it won't resemble pampered treatment by any means. Parker said despite Wayne's small physical stature and his propensity to signal a particular gang affiliation in his rhymes, the rapper won't have much to fear in terms of extortion, bullying or worse.
Parker compared Wayne to former New York Giants football player Plaxico Burress, another celebrity who was convicted on gun charges in New York. However, Wayne could be better prepared for life behind bars — Burress hired a jail coach to assist him with acclimating to prison, something Wayne wouldn't even consider.
"Wayne is from the streets, from the Magnolia Houses in New Orleans, so I'm sure those guys have been in jail or locked up at some point," Parker said. "So being in prison is no big deal to them. Plaxico isn't built for that — he's the type of guy that's never been locked up like that before. He's gonna need a coach or someone to tell him what to expect, since he's not used to that."
But what exactly can Wayne expect? Fortunately, he won't have to cut his trademark tresses.
"The days of doing that are over," retired corrections officer Charles Reid told MTV News. "They can't make inmates do that anymore — it's within their rights to maintain any kind of hairstyle."
Wayne will have a few comforts of home while he's away. He will be able to watch network television — not cable, however. And he'll be able to watch DVD movies. He told Rolling Stone recently he plans to take an iPod in with him to assist with writing music, but a source close to the prison facility told MTV News that would not be allowed.
Reid, who worked at Rikers Island for 21 years as an officer and an investigator, said Wayne's days would continue to be regimented, but in a much different way. He suggested the rapper may have to succumb to some work conditions, whether in sanitation or the mess hall, for example. Reid also noted that different wings of the prison carry different types of criminals, but guessed that Wayne would be housed in a dormitory area and not even be confined to a cell.
"Like a hospital, where there's maybe 20 to 25 beds in an open ward, or it maybe bunk beds," Reid said of Wayne's possible lodgings. "Where he has a nightstand to keep his personal belongings."
Due to the short nature of Wayne's sentence — one year, which could mean 10 months, including the possibly of early release after serving 80 percent of good time, possibly putting him back onstage in a little as eight months — the rapper could very well spend his entire term at Rikers Island.
It won't be known for sure if Wayne will be transferred upstate until he enters the New York corrections system and is processed. (A representative for the Corrections Department did not return several inquiries made by MTV as of press time.)
"I think he's gonna go in there and do his time and do it quietly," Parker said. "If he does it with good behavior, that will be a plus for him — then he'll be out and putting out a new album."
Curren$y's latest project; the mixtape entitled: "Smokee Robinson" was supposed to be released via the interwebs at the halftime of the Super Bowl tonight. Well you know how mixtapes go, they are never on time! It isn't even out yet, I'm just getting the post ready since I am expecting it to either drop in the next few minutes or by the time I wake up for class tomorrow. My guess is that it is getting the Super Bowl treatment since the New Orleans Saints (Curren$y's hometown team) just won the damn thing, for the first time ever! Hopefully the reason for the delay will be because he just cooked up a Super Bowl tracl for the tape, not because they are just being idiots about it. UPDATE #1: The tracklist has just been added bellow. Also it looks like a street-teamer just left a comment on this post. Man fuck this hype bullshit, I'm going to bed. Check back in the morning for the download link... UPDATE #2: DOWNLOAD LINK BELLOW.
