In 2011 actor turned rapper Childish Gambino released his critically panned debut album, CAMP. With 2013 winding down, it looked like Gambino wouldn't release his follow up sophomore album before the new year. In October however he released a string of Instagram notes, where among other addressed issues, he promised to release that album in December.
After a handful of singles, music videos, and appearances, Gambino released Because The Internet on December 6th. His sophomore effort went on to sell 90,000+ copies in the first week of being on sale, beating out nearly all of his new school rap contemporaries.
Complex Magazine chronicled this process in their new cover story on Gambino, titled On The Edge. That cover & story was just released today, which you can read right here.
