Kanye West Endorses 16 Year Old Chicago Rapper, Chief Keef

For the past few months we've been following Chicago rapper, Chief Keef, waiting for a big development to break him onto the TMG pages. The sixteen year old MC, who was just released from house arrest for shooting at the police, has two breakout internet hits with "3HUNNA" and "I Don't Like". Keef has already received praise from Tyler, The Creator to Soulja Boy, but this most recent cosign will likely be the one which launches his young career.

Fakeshoredrive recently interviewed DJ Pharris, the DJ heard at the end of "Theraflu"/ Kanye West confidant. The DJ revealed that Chief Keef's new YouTube hit not only inspired Theraflu, but is Kanye's second favorite song right now only rivaled by "Paris".

FSD: So I heard a rumor that “Theraflu” was heavily influenced by Chief Keef and the new rappers bubbling in Chicago. Any truth to that?

DJ Pharris: Well, Kanye is watching what’s going on in Chicago right now. He’s definitely watching what these guys are doing pretty closely. He talked to me about it, and we had a pretty big conversation about what’s going on here right now. He sees the movement and power these young kids have. I don’t know if they totally inspired the record, but I do know that he likes what is coming out of Chicago right now.

With that cosign it's no question that Chief Keef is the buzzing young rapper of the moment, but it will be interesting to see how and if he will maintain this attention. First it was Drake, than Wiz Khalifa, Tyler, The Creator and A$AP Rocky, but now it's looking like Chief Keef will be that "it" new school rapper.

That was literally one of the worst things i have ever fucking heard. i don’t see any potential in this kid whatsoever. How the fuck can Kanye cosign THIS?!

This isn’t a fairytale land where someone like Kanye West would find the most lyrical rapper in the history of the game and make him a superstar…. that’s not real life, hip hop, or especially popular music. Chief Keef makes great songs, maybe not lyrical songs, but there’s no arguing that this isn’t infectious. He’s also a 16 year old father who was on house arrest for shooting at cops… which makes him extremely marketable and interesting,

I don’t mind that it isn’t lyrical. I seriously don’t expect trap rap to be lyrical. I’m 16 too, i don’t get how being a dumbass who shot at cops can make someone marketable. Whatever though, i guess with the money he’s about to make he’ll be able to support his kid.

Y’all fucks with his music one way or another givin him that spotlight for canye to discover :) see he’s makin it.. I admit he did fuck up goin to jail but that only makes for a future “to the top” documentary of how he made it and what obstacles he faced..Canye’s smart n knows what he’s doing why u think he got all that $$ he wouldn’t risk all that for nothing..u have to see this from a chicago person point of view..dats all I gotta say..
