Mac Miller Reaches Settlement With Lord Finesse
This past July news broke that shook the hip hop world, OG producer Lord Finesse filed a lawsuit against up-and-commer Mac Miller for a staggering 10 million dollars. The lawsuit claimed that Miller illegally sampled Finesse's "Hip 2 Da Game" song on his "Kool Aid & Frozen Pizza" mixtape track. After months of back-and-fourth, the issue has finally been resolved.
"According to court records, a successful settlement conference for this case was conducted in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry B. Pitman for the Southern District of New York on December 6, 2012."
Mac spoke with Complex saying, "I'm actually legally not allowed to say anything about what happened. Other than that it's been resolved and we didn't go to [trial]." He also added that, "If that was really a problem, people would be getting sued left and right."
While the case has been solved, we can only hope this does not become a precedent for the future as other project releases have already been affected by this specific lawsuit.
