In anticipation of the start of UNMASKED '16, we're taking a look back at some of our favorite UNMASKED concerts from the last 3 years. Make sure to subscribe to Masked Gorilla's official YouTube channel right here. Way back in 2014 we kicked off our now annual UNMASKED Concert Series in a Silver Lake, Los Angeles warehouse. At the time the main attraction was Domo Genesis, who we booked for his first ever headlining concert, crossing our fingers that his friends from Odd Future would come out as well.  When it came down to book an opener we recruited Bones, one of our favorite emerging rappers at the time who a few months earlier we highlighted here on Masked Gorilla. At the time, we could have never anticipated our first concert, a Domo Genesis x Bones show, would turn into one of the most legendary underground rap concerts of all time. We had no idea what we were doing yet when it came down to throwing the concert, and Odd Future's camp didn't make it easy for us. Thankfully on the other side of the spectrum Bones' brother and manager Elliott made things super easy for us. With Xavier Wulf, Chris Travis, and Eddy Baker in tow, Bones showed up with the yet to be officially named SesHolloWaterBoyz, which I think was the first concert SHWB performed at that wasn't their own. We did a super quick pre-concert interview with Bones, where he fucked around and gave some pretty legendary responses to our questions. The Domo Genesis interview was a little longer, where we talked about the prospect of his forthcoming debut project.  Bones kicked the concert off with an insane set alongside Xavier, Chris, and Eddy, nearly stealing the show. Domo ended up bringing out Tyler, the Creator, Hodgy Beats, Left Brain, Taco, and even Lee Spielman. It turned into a full blown Odd Future x SHWB concert right before our eyes.  At the time, Odd Future's profile as a group was just about leveling out, while SHWB's profile was rapidly on the rise. The first UNMASKED turned into an inadvertent passing of the underground torch, for a show that has already went down in history.
