Seen Azaelia Banks video last weekend (212) and now she’s on TMG. Nice.
But anyway, I agree with the list as there really is no point in putting two members of the same group on the list when you can just put the frontmember/whole group as one. example for Tyler & OF, A$AP Rocky and his mob. you only need one to cover them all.

Scratching my head on Freddie gibbs though. He always put out content, just wondering why he got bumped off though.

Although we cover OnCue all the time, he was just one of those artists to barely miss the cut. Next time he’ll probably find his way onto the list.

I see no point in removing nicki minaj, freddie gibbs, ace hood, and i personally think donnis is great, even though he’s not relevant so i understand that. New school rap to me is like since that xxl cover with asher roth and charles hamilton on, and of those artists to come up nickis been one we’ve heard about the most. Gibbs is at CTE with an album on the way, Ace hood puts out lots of good stuff. Space Ghost Purps mixtape was wayyyy too weird after his freestyles and some songs were alright. Vados making noise too. I appreciate and really respect this site, but this cut seems kinda trendy. Nickis commonly hated on after the grammys. Danny browns overrated. Where STS at? Jon Conner? Everyone has their own tastes, the TMG Top 50 is composed of completely different artists. Your favorite rapper is someone else’s least favorite, while your least favorite is someone else’s favorite… you’re not going to be a fan of everyone we cover.

Once he kicks things up again we’ll add him back, until than when he releases a new song or music video we’ll post it.

You’re arguing against things I never said. I never questioned whether you consider the artist you like to be “good”, I questioned their buzz. Actually, we have made multiple posts about STS in the past. When exactly was Playaz Circle formed? 1997? When was the era of hip hip that we cover formed? 2009. Honestly, Freddie Gibbs will most likely be added back any day now.

I hardly say this is taking the opinions of TMG viewers into account. How could you get rid of Domo Genesis? He’s fresh as fuck he’s bound to blow up and you won’t be covering him.. Also Tayyib Ali, I saw a lot of comments regarding him be added to the site, but no? You should seriously check dude out if you don’t know of the kid, he’s gonna get big. Some other changes I personally would have made but those two are prime.

Haha my bad I was too infuriated to read further, but that’s good and I do understand that Tayyib hasn’t really made that big of a name for himself yet but I do still think he has more talent then at least 50% of the dudes on here. Just my two cents.

Lil B should always be in the top 50 because he has arguably the biggest following (imcluding haters) Lil B is easily the most hated rapper. But what Lil B has done is what’s expected from a true artist. He makes his own music and always has new projects for his fan base. Clearly he is not as lyrically talented as others, but Lil B deserves respects. he has made a career out off hard work and self promotion. And their is no denying it’s fun to listen to his based ass

Removing Hodgy Beats, and Domo Genesis is not a good decision. I would venture to say they are more talented and enjoyable to listen to than majority of odd future if you wish to cover the group. Their progression is only beginning and I feel that we should expect to see many things done with them. I feel that if it weren’t for A$AP Rocky there would be no Iggy Azalea, with that being said I think she should be removed from the list. Nothing more unique than Nicki and therefore not intriguing. Future should be removed as well, his music isn’t breaking any group or changing any game. I come to The Masked Gorilla to find the rawest newest music and if I were looking for someone like Future, I would go to Hot New Hip Hop… And for an artist such as Azaelia Banks I don’t think this is the site for her. I come here and can normally download a song without even previewing it I have that much good faith in TMG’s taste. But when I see this news, that changes. I think a prime alternative for her position would be someone such as Juicy J who as of recently has brought nothing but fire to the track. He has been working with so many people in the game and I am constantly looking forward to the next release. With that being said, this is my full opinion. I am on this site more than anything else on the internet and would like to see artists who are changing the music we listen to, not fall into the same category as some other rapper, becoming the norm… stay unique.

To cover the rest of your concern, the idea of The Masked Gorilla is to stay on the cutting edge of emerging rappers, not to just keep covering artists, who may be stagnant, just because people are comfortable with them. Just like most change, in due time, you will grow to embrace it while at the same time forgetting what was even changed in the first place. Regardless, the TMG Top 50 is just a list, we’ll still be covering many many artists not the the list as usual.

Ive never seen so many “popular” names be removed for so many “nobodies”. I have a song or an entire album by literally every single person removed, but when it comes to those added, i have songs by like four – five. And thats not because i havent listened to their music.
